Sanvers tension coming in Supergirl season 2 thanks to Alex crisis

Sanvers -Mrs. Carter: How long will everything stay stable between Alex and Maggie on Supergirl?

The good news is that on tonight’s episode, there wasn’t too much when it came to Sanvers tension as a result of Jeremiah’s betrayal. The two parties remains incredibly close and supportive during what had to be an impossible moment in Alex’s life. This does serve as a good symbol that they can get through anything … but there are some other issues coming up that they’re going to need to take on!

Specifically, we’re talking here in terms of a conflict that could be all about what happens when Alex is in danger, and her sister and her girlfriend are at odds when it comes to the right way to save her. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg teased to TVLine that there’s a “sort of a ticking-clock story” coming up, one where “Alex is in serious trouble, and it’s up to Kara and Maggie to save her. It becomes a story about [how] the sister and the girlfriend both love her, and are debating the best way to save her. It’s a really great story. We’re really excited about it.”

Hopefully, it’s one where this debate doesn’t lead to any further relationship conflict, not that we really see anything coming up that could split them up. There are several different types of relationships that you get on these sorts of shows. There are placeholders that simply give characters something to do, ones that serve the purpose of tension / evolution, and then there are those that are in it for the long haul. With this story, it doesn’t feel like there is any way to describe it other than the latter. There probably will still be problems, but they’ll find a way to work through them.

As for Kara, she’ll just have to get used to the fact that there are some other people who are interested in protecting her sister.
