‘Arrow’ season 5, episode 14 preview: A new sneak peek (and Prometheus hype)

Prometheus -

Tonight, “Arrow” returns to The CW with a new episode entitled “The Sin-Eater,” and on paper, it seems exciting! The sneak peek below features the return of three notable villains including Cupid (Amy Gumenick), Liza Warner (Rutina Wesley), and China White (Kelly Hu). The three are busting out of Iron Heights, otherwise known as that prison nobody can stay locked in forever, and they’ll all probably cause Oliver Queen a little bit of trouble.

Beyond that, what may be interesting is that this episode could pick up the story of Prometheus ever so slightly. It’s been a while since he was a big component in this story, but he’s clearly not going anywhere (if he is in fact, a he) and there will be some more clues dropped about his identity. That doesn’t mean, however, that you’re going to learn who he is right away. Speaking on this subject to TV Guide, executive producer Marc Guggenheim made it clear that are some plans to get some more hints soon, and the story is all a part of a larger plan:

“… [We] knew from the beginning [who Prometheus was]. No, it hasn’t changed. I think I’ve said this in a bunch of different ways over the last five years, but we always go in with a plan. We do tend to call audibles as we get inspired and get new ideas. A year is a long time. But general speaking, something that major, like the mystery of the identity of the Big Bad, we’re pretty dialed into it from jump.”

If we don’t end up seeing the identity of Prometheus for a while, this opens the door for a lot of different possibilities. It’s therefore possible that this character is someone we haven’t met yet, someone in Talia who we’ve met in the flashbacks only, or even someone like Tommy Merlyn who the show could only get for an episode or two because of Colin Donnell’s commitments elsewhere. We’ve seen a number of other, more out-there theories, but it’s a little too early to think specifically about any of them.
