Is ‘Madam Secretary’ season 3, episode 14 new tonight? A ‘Dexter’ reunion coming up

For those of you who love “Madam Secretary,” we’d understand if you were to start getting pumped up at the prospect of there being a new episode airing tonight on CBS! That’s why we hate being the bearer of bad news that it’s not happening. While there are new installments of both “NCIS: Los Angeles” and also “Elementary” airing on the night, we’re unfortunately not going to be getting a chance to see the Tea Leoni series to go along with it. This show, regrettably, is not returning until Sunday, March 5. Go ahead and blame the Academy Awards for that — don’t worry, we’re doing the same thing. Not everyone has seen enough movies from the past year to get anything out of watching the show!

With that said, we’re certainly happy to dish out a first look at the show’s first episode back entitled “Labor of Love” — including a photo featuring one of the more notable guest stars! “Dexter” alum Luna Velez (formerly Lauren Velez) is going to be appearing in the episode as Colombian President Natalia Moreno, someone who is going to be actively involved in the main story of the hour.

This installment is going to have a “Romeo & Juliet” sort of feel to it (albeit hopefully one with a happier ending), as the main plot revolves around Moreno’s son and a potential marriage to the daughter of a rebel leader; we’re not sure how willing the two are to get married, but like with the Capulets and the Montagues, this union could be the thing that pushes these two sides together. Unfortunately, some trouble comes up along the way, and it may be up to one Elizabeth McCord to make things right and better.

Velez played Maria LaGuerta for the vast majority of the “Dexter” run on Showtime (we won’t spoil the end of it here); meanwhile, “Madam Secretary” star Keith Carradine had a prominently role at one point as Frank Lundy. Can we now get Jennifer Carpenter on board the CBS show next as a foul-mouthed diplomat who takes no lip from anyone? We’d be ALL for that.

In addition to being a part of “Dexter,” Velez is also known for a prominent arc on “How to Get Away with Murder,” where she’d played the part of Soraya Hargrove for the majority of the season.
