‘Doctor Who’ season 10: Is Tilda Swinton really the favorite to replace Peter Capaldi?

Doctor Who -We really do want to get excited about the chatter that is floating around there about Tilda Swinton potentially being the next big star of “Doctor Who.” Unfortunately, more often than not these rumors turn out to be just that.

Actually, what we really should say at the moment is that there’s not even any definite word out there that Swinton is even talking with the BBC or incoming producer Chris Chibnall about taking the part. The main reason for the heavy reporting around the acting icon is the odds that have been released so far by bookies, who are keen to label her at present the most likely person to get the gig.

We do absolutely understand why there would be talk around Tilda getting the job, if for no other reason than that she’s a fantastic entertainer, and someone the producers for the show would be incredibly lucky to get. The question we have is whether or not they could actually afford her, and then if they could, if she would have the time in her schedule. She is easily the most famous person out of the various contenders who are being floated around out there as possibilities.

Our stance on the whole “first female Doctor” debate has always been clear: If you find the right person, make it happen! However, don’t try to force something if you feel there is a better option out there. Swinton is someone who, on paper, has all of the necessarily qualities that we’d want in a Doctor. She has the right personality for the role, a great sense of humor, and the endorsement already of Capaldi himself. She is in our mind the right person; we hope producers make this happen. We’ve suggested some other names, including Hayley Atwell and Martin Freeman, but we would never be upset for an actress of her caliber getting to be included as a part of the show.

What do you think: Would Swinton be an excellent choice to be the next Doctor? Share in the comments below, and when there is more news to report on this subject, we’re going to have it for you here.
