‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13 spoilers: When will Alex actually return to the hospital?

Jo and Alex -On this past episode of “Grey’s Anatomy,” there was certainly a big development for one Dr. Alex Karev, as Dr. Bailey decided to allow him back to work once he was able to bring her all of the right documentation and information from the case. She recognizes that he is a great doctor — but we also imagine he’s on an incredibly short leash. The last thing that she wants to do is allow him to come back and cause some problems with his temper. It’s probably a one-strike-and-you’re-out scenario we’re looking at with this character.

What may surprise some people out there is that you’re not going to see Alex return to work on Thursday night’s all-new episode. Instead, you’ll be waiting until the February 23 installment entitled (fittingly) “Back Where You Belong” when that happens.

Suffice it to say, a good bit will have changed since he last was working in his typical environment. Remember when Meredith was the head of surgery? Well, Bailey suspended her and it now seems as though April is going to be running that ship. It remains to be seen how long that arrangement lasts, but it could still be going on. There’s also the Eliza Minnick situation that may still be unfolding; knowing what we do about some of the characters on this show, they’re still probably not afraid to vocalize their opinion on some of her teaching methods.

As for what else is coming up in this episode, let’s just say that Jo may be so preoccupied with a case that she doesn’t have a lot of time to think about or deal with what is going on with Alex. Meanwhile, you’re also going to see some development when it comes to the relationship between Arizona and Minnick (if you even want to call it that). Whether or not the movement is positive or negative, we’ll leave that a mystery for the time being.
