‘Supernatural’ season 12, episode 11 preview: A scene from ‘Regarding Dean’

Supernatural -

Supernatural” is one of those shows that loves to bring you a wide array of different wrinkles — sometimes, it’s funny, whereas on other occasions it’s sad and even foreboding. It’s a show that effectively likes to keep you on your toes for as long as it possibly can.

On Thursday night’s new episode “Regarding Dean,” what you’re going to see is Jensen Ackles’ character undergo a sort of hex, one that causes him to start to lose his memory. This, as you would expect, would cause many problems for the Winchesters. So much of the reason for his success as a hunter is his experience. He knows what to do in almost any situation just because of the fact that he’s been there for so many of them. Without that, Dean could find himself stumbling around or getting himself killed.

The funny thing about the sneak peek below is mostly just that it shows off the comical side of the hex that will make Dean devour waffles like a madman, not really paying any mind to his or what he needs to do in order to take care of himself. Also, he gets himself slapped in the face at one point as a result of not remembering someone he clearly hooked up with in the past.

All this is well and good for now, but what happens when Dean starts to forget major things? There’s a Flowers for Algernon effect that could end up happening through the episode, and we could see this running the gamut from funny to emotional. We’ll see how all of it plays out in the end, but for the time being one of the things that we’re most excited to see in here is what Sam is going to be able to do in order to help him. As Dean becomes increasingly incapacitated, the majority of the onus will be on him to turn things around.
