‘Supernatural’ season 12, episode 11 preview: Jensen Ackles’ showcase in ‘Regarding Dean’

Take a look -

Clearly, the writers for “Supernatural” are putting a good bit of effort in the second part of this season to give us some stories that are very personal for one character. Tonight, we’re getting that with Castiel (Misha Collins), but next week we could be getting that with Jensen Ackles’ character of Dean.

“Regarding Dean” sounds like a great chance to give him some juicy material and we’ll explain why after giving you the official details via The CW.

Synopsis – “Sam (Jared Padalecki) enlists Rowena’s (guest star Ruth Connell) help to track down an old world, powerful family of witches after Dean (Jensen Ackles) gets hit by a spell that is rapidly erasing his memory.”

On the surface, there is something that could be very comical about the idea of Dean starting to forget things; however, the longer that we have a chance to see this play out, the more potentially-heartbreaking that it could be. There are few things more frightening in the world than forgetting the ones we love (and ourselves) or being forgotten, and Dean and Sam could both find themselves in this position. Dean could struggle with some of the most basic details, and Sam could have to watch his brother deteriorate. All of the history and the memories that they have for each other could fade, and it will almost surely be hard on him to watch this transformation happen. This could be why he decides to get Rowena involved. Given that we love Ruth Connell and this is one of the show’s best recurring characters, it’s easy to be thrilled over the prospect of seeing her again.

Could tonight and next week’s episodes signal big stories coming for Sam and Crowley in the weeks ahead? We certainly hope so, and we’ll provide you with more scoop as soon as we have it, so stay tuned!

Let’s just hope that this upcoming episode is one that turns out to be as emotional as we are hoping it will be, but also a little bit charming and with an uplifting end. It’s hard to see “Supernatural” moving forward unless Dean gets his memories back.
