Ratings: ‘Hawaii Five-0,’ ‘The Vampire Diaries’ rise; ‘Shark Tank’ wins night; ‘Emerald City’ levels off

Emerald city -

We had yet another fairly quiet night on Friday in terms of the ratings, but at least there was a good bit of activity in terms of the number of shows that were actually on the air! There was a good bit going on, which in turn meant that we had a good bit to actually write about — which is always far more fun than the contrary.

CBS – Once again, The Eye delivered a pretty solid lineup across the board. “MacGyver” (1.0 in the 18-49 demographic) was the weakest show of the three, but not by just a large margin that it hampers the show’s renewal odds. We still do find it fairly likely that we’re going to see it coming back for another season. Meanwhile, “Hawaii Five-0” (1.1) improved from its most-recent outing on the air, and “Blue Bloods” (1.2) was pretty constant and tied for #2 on the night.

ABC – “Last Man Standing” (1.2) was also tied for #2, while the top prize goes once again to “Shark Tank” (1.3), which has reclaimed its title after a few off weeks in the fall. “Dr. Ken,” meanwhile, fell to a 0.9 rating that is still decent for the network.

Fox – “Rosewood” (0.6) managed to be even with its recent outing, while “Sleepy Hollow” (0.5) fell, and in turn probably improved its cancellation odds.

NBC – The great news for “Emerald City” (0.6) is that the bleeding finally stopped six episodes in. Unfortunately, that’s the only great news given that this rating still is not a particularly great one for the network. It may not be enough to get it another season on the air.

The CW – “The Vampire Diaries” (0.4) had a nice little bump up, which is a nice way to send off the character who happened to die on Friday night’s new episode. It’s too bad that this goodwill did not transfer over to “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” for its finale, which drew just a 0.2.
