‘Star’ episode 7 preview: Protests and stand-ins

Star -

Fans of Fox’s “Star,” let’s talk milestones! The show is now officially at its halfway point, which means that we’ve started at this point to get a really good sense of precisely what the show is and what it’s trying to be. This is a series with a heavy music component, but you’d be grossly mistaken if you think that it’s all about this solely. It’s also a series that focuses heavily on the underdog story and social / political issues of the time. This is a reflection of people trying to make it in a world that is unrelenting, and not one that gives things up easy.

Next week’s new episode is entitled “Black Wherever I Go,” and protests are going to be one of the key components based on some of the information that is out there.

Synopsis – “Things get out of control during a rally Derek organizes in response to the sudden loss of a close friend. Then, when Star doesn’t show up for an important rehearsal, Alex and Simone are forced to have someone else step in for her. Meanwhile, Eva’s (guest star Sharlene Taule) intentions are revealed.”

Ultimately, the promo below is a fantastic reflection of what this show is, and how emotional it’s going to be as protests start to become a key component of the story, and some of these said protesters are going to find themselves in danger. We imagine that the combative nature of certain police officers are going to play a pretty big role in everything that we see coming up.

As for the music, we have a pretty big feeling that the issues right now with Star, Alex, and Simone are are going to be worked out in due time. We just have to figure out what this said “time” is given that this can be a rather complicated show.
