‘The Bachelorette’: How Raven Gates, Vanessa Grimaldi, Rachel Lindsay have inside track

Raven -Monday night’s new episode of “The Bachelor” is taking us to New Orleans, and with that, we’re going to have an opportunity to see how things are progressing between Nick Viall and some of his remaining women. We’re just about at the point in the show now where things are starting to get serious … and we’re also starting to see who the true contenders are both for the winner of the season and also “The Bachelorette.”

Often, these two things go hand in hand. Unless you’re Juan Pablo Galavis or Jake Pavelka, almost every single future Bachelorette / Bachelor made it to around hometown dates. Therefore, you’ve got to look at some of the people Nick is the closest to in order to find the right candidate.

Raven Gates – Maybe the most popular “Bachelorette” contender of the field judging from what some people are saying to creator Mike Fleiss on Twitter. Even though she’s not a mother, she’s like a feisty version of Emily Maynard. While her story about attacking her ex after finding him in bed with someone else was a little extreme, nobody seemed to be all that turned off by it. She’s got a lot of personality that would suit the show well.

Rachel Lindsay – Extremely likable, and also relatable given the whole “I spent so much time on my career that I didn’t have time for love” story is one that many people in life have experienced. There’s inevitably more appeal in choosing her given that she would be the first black Bachelor or Bachelorette, but you don’t pick her solely because of her race. You pick her because she’s a great contender, and we certainly feel as though she is.

Vanessa Grimaldi – Her standing up to Nick Viall over Corinne was awesome, and it is moments like this that tend to make a great Bachelorette. You want someone who you know is strong and can handle the pressure of being a part of the series. Also, there’s something appealing about hiring someone who has such a down-to-earth but important job as a special ed teacher, and also someone who’s incredibly smart and can speak three languages.

Corinne Olympios – Just kidding. Not gonna happen.

Danielle Maltby – After her story on her one-on-one date, we thought she had a chance and would make for a good lead. Unfortunately, since that time she’s fallen off the radar and we’re starting to think she’s more likely for “Bachelor in Paradise.” The same goes for Danielle Lombard, who’s had a solo date with Nick but doesn’t seem to be at the forefront of his contender list.
