How ‘Poldark’ season 3 is changing things up with locations

Poldark

While we’ve spent a little bit of time as of late discussing “Poldark” through the lens of award-show snubs, for the sake of today’s article, we’re interested in looking at things from a slightly different perspective. Specifically, we’re now talking once more about the production of the third season. It’s been underway for many months now, even to the point where the cast was filming while so many of you were watching new episodes of season 2 in the late summer.

What may surprise many people out there right now is the news that the show is actually filming in a different spot than their typical Cornwall, which also just so happens to be the setting for the series. Following up his appearance at the National Television Awards earlier this week, Aidan Turner was spotted along the coast of Wales filming once more. (We know that there are set photos out there, but we have a self-imposed policy against sharing those out of respect for production.)

Wales over the years certainly has become a hotbed for many British TV productions, especially those that air on BBC One. For example, the most-recent season of “Sherlock” filmed much of their content in the area, while “Doctor Who” frequently uses Cardiff as their primary stop when it comes to doing new episodes. We understand the desire to film there, given that the scenery is wonderful and there are a wide array of landscapes.

Now with that said, we imagine that filming just about anywhere in Great Britain during the month of January is quite challenging, just because you’re having to deal with the inclement weather and some assorted frustrations when it comes to that. The good news is that if you’re an actor of Turner’s caliber, odds are that there is someone standing by waiting to help warm you up once filming for a given scene is done.

There is no firm premiere date for season 3 just yet, but expect it later this year.
