Whoopi Goldberg wants on ‘Doctor Who,’ season 10 or otherwise

Doctor Who -While we know that “Doctor Who” is for the most part a British institution, we do still want there to be a nice mixture of American talent on the show, at least as much as there can be. Sometimes, it’s challenging due to travel, or simply because it makes more sense to get British talent for a show that is more popular in America.

Either way, we now have one person who you can add to the list of unlikely names we didn’t expect being interest in appearing on the show anytime soon: Whoopi Goldberg. Speaking per The Sun, the actress had the following to say on the subject of wanting to take part in either this or one of the other British shows that is out there on the air:

“I always hope when I come to England the BBC will say, ‘Hey we want you to do something.’ I would love that … You have a different quality now on television. The way you guys have always done shows has always been the smartest and we’ve finally just figured it out.

“I like the idea of doing things the way y’all do them, you do some really fun stuff like Black Mirror or, you know, I’m still dying to do Doctor Who.”

Our personal feeling is that Whoopi would make for a great adversary, or maybe you could have her running some sort of alien base somewhere. She’s an actress who shines when playing characters with wisdom, almost like a female Morgan Freeman. It’s with that in mind that it is not altogether difficult to imagine her fitting well into this world. This is a show that loves to surround itself with whimsy, and characters who are known for interesting quirks and habits.

We already know that the tenth season has one major addition in Pearl Mackie, and we’re not sure it will make sue of another. Also, Goldberg’s schedule is rather tricky to begin with thanks mostly to “The View.”
