‘Arrow’ season 5, episode 10 trailer: A revenge tour and so much more
If you were to say that “Arrow” screwed things up when it comes to their first promo for their January 25 return to the air, it’s hard to argue that claim. They wanted to clearly promote the return of one Laurel Lance, but in the process they gave away that she wasn’t exactly Laurel Lance at all.
Whoever is responsible for making some of these promos at The CW clearly learned from this mistake, given that the latest extended trailer that is out there for the remainder of the season does a great job of being mysterious, and not giving away anything near as much when it comes to information about what is coming up — other than that someone who looks just like Earth-1 Laurel is back in Star City, and she has something that she clearly wants from Oliver Queen.
Elsewhere, the focus here is almost entirely (and understandably) about the revenge tour with Prometheus. This is a mystery figure who set up Felicity’s boyfriend Billy Malone to die (unless you’re one of those people who somehow thinks that Billy IS Prometheus), and also is responsible for Diggle being found by authorities. Oliver and Felicity both are going to be going hard in their pursuit of him or her, but unfortunately, there’s no evidence that they are going to be successful. Heck, there’s no word yet that we’re going to learn who is underneath that hood anytime soon. This may be one of those occasions where it’s really not so much about the reveal as it is the story to get there. Unless the show does something truly crazy like bringing back Tommy Merlyn from the dead, we have a hard time imagining that this particular reveal is going to pay off.
Regardless of whatever happens, this is one of the best trailers we’ve seen from the show in forever. It’s almost non-stop action, and you gotta love how it focuses on the dark, grittier side of the DC – CW universe rather than trying to force the show to be something that it’s not.
