‘This Is Us’ spoilers: Prepare for more Beth

“This Is Us” is a show about the past, present, and future for many of its characters, but the reality here is that mostly, there is only so much time that they can devote to each person and story in a given period of time. Tuesday’s episode in particular is going to focus more on some unsung heroes like Dr. K and the firefighter who was so integral to Jack and Rebecca becoming parents. It’s a different sort of episode for the show, but at the same time, an important one.

So when could we start to get to see more of another important character in Beth? Rest assured that it’ll be happening before long. Specifically, we’re going to be meeting her sister! Speaking per TV Guide, Susan Kelechi Watson (who plays the character) had the following to say about her family, and also at the same time the development and understanding of the bond that she does share with Randall:

“We’ll begin to see some of the differences between her family and his family, where they connect and disconnect.”

Understanding this relationship of course is going to be key with understanding their future, and for Randall, he remains on a journey of comprehension and peace. He’s still trying to figure out properly precisely what the parameters of his relationship with William will be, and there is also a part of him that is working to figure out precisely where he stands in the larger picture of the African-American experience. Within this world, you often are continually learning, whether it is about yourself or some of the people around you.

There are still seven episodes left this season on “This Is Us,” and that presents plenty of opportunities to come for learning. Beyond that, though, you also do have to imagine that a second season will be coming beyond this to further enrich and add to some of these character stories.
