‘Emerald City’ episode 4 preview: Surprises in ‘Science and Magic’

Emerald city -

We’re three episodes into “Emerald City” this season, and so far, they’ve crammed a good bit of content into these stories. With this being a new show, it is still trying to find it’s footing and establish it’s audience, so taking a few risks early on is seemingly paying off. We have to give some credit to the folks behind the scenes for being bold and really trying something that is such a different take on classic source material.

Moving forward, there will be new challenges — not only for Dorothy, but Tip and many other characters. Next week’s episode is entitled “Science and Magic,” which reminds us a lot superficially of “Man of Science, Man of Faith” from “Lost” (which is easily our favorite episode from that series). Worlds always collide when you have people on the opposite ends of this spectrum and we expect that to happen here too.

Synopsis – “Dorothy (Adria Arjona) and Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) are approached by a mysterious young girl who has lost her way. Following a tragic accident, Tip (Jordan Loughran) finds herself caught between two powerful forces – Glinda (Joely Richardson) and West (Ana Ularu). Elsewhere, the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) pays a visit to a village and exacts his authority over its citizens. Meanwhile, Jack (Gerran Howell) has a life-changing experience that leads him on a surprising new path with a unique woman (guest star Stefanie Martini).”

The biggest thing that we’re excited to see here is mostly the Wizard lording over people and our excitement is because of the fact that D’onofrio is a lot of fun to watch. Another thing we’re curious about is seeing just how much of the premiere audience the show maintains when the ratings come in tomorrow. It wasn’t as dominant in terms of being a trending topic on social media, but that’s not often a reflection of anything (even though many networks seem to think so).
