‘Bones’ season 12, episode 2 preview: What’s next for Emily Deschanel, cast in ‘The Brain in the Bot’
Did tonight’s premiere episode of “Bones” live up to the hype for you? It was a chance to see the aftermath following the return of Zack Addy, and learn what exactly led to him making some of the moves that he did.
So where are we going to see this story go from here? The next new episode of the show is entitled “The Brain in the Bot,” and we imagine that over the course of it, we’re going to have some opportunities to see a very different sort of case. After all, there’s a part of this that really makes us think of “Westworld.” Maybe this is the show’s take on that, which we have to think will be much funnier and not anywhere near as violent.
Synopsis – “After discovering the body of a man involved with creating artificial intelligence bots, the team must figure out whether the victim’s own A.I. bot was programmed to kill him. In the meantime, Bones plans a special surprise for everyone for her 40th birthday.”
The 40th birthday part of this episode is exciting in its own way, with one of the major reasons for that being that it should allow Emily Deschanel’s character an opportunity to look back on her own life a little bit and everything that has transpired with her since the start of the series. While we do think that you can sometimes go a little too far with nostalgia and sentimentality, we have a hard time imagining that this will be the case here. After all, this is the final season of the show! These are the sort of moments that we should be getting with some regularity, especially since there are only 11 episode left.
Also, we’re thrilled to see that Zack wasn’t guilty tonight. It was a really nice twist on the story and after being on the air for 12 seasons, it’s nice to know that this show can still surprise us.
Promo – The video below certainly does make you think for a minute about “Westworld,” but we have to say that the funniest part of it comes via a discussion about the dress code for the event. Clearly, Brennan doesn’t care all that much about it. It’s either that or she really wants to maintain the element of surprise.
