‘Twin Peaks’ revival not coming to Sundance Film Festival, says Mark Frost

Twin Peaks -While we’re all excited to see the return of “Twin Peaks,” it looks as though it (unfortunately) isn’t going to be a little while longer before we see something from the project — or at least if there is something shown, it’s not going to be at the Sundance Film Festival.

If you look below, you can see writer Mark Frost’s response to a recent story, first posted by Deadline, suggesting that there could be a sneak peek of some sort of the project at the festival. While this is better known for its movie presentations, television has played a little bit more of a role there in recent years. Given that Sundance is set in Park City, we do understand the synergy that could be there at least superficially.

Yet, the project remains under wraps, and in all honesty, it wouldn’t be all that much of a surprise if we found out everything that there is to know about it at the very last second. While it’s not “American Horror Story: Roanoke” secretive, Showtime is being very hush-hush as to not give away a single thing. Maybe they’ll release several episodes at once, or do something on a daily basis. The one thing that we do know is that the network may be viewing this as an opportunity to try a few things that are a little more experimental rather than just following traditional norms in terms of a release schedule. They know that there are under no obligation to do the same thing that they often do with many of their own shows, and “Twin Peaks” as a franchise has a built-in audience that something like a “Homeland” or a “Ray Donovan” did not when they first premiered.

If and when something else is actually announced when it comes to “Twin Peaks,” we will have it for you over at the link here.

How do you want to see “Twin Peaks” launched as a franchise? For the time being, we want to hear your thoughts in the attached comments! (Photo: Showtime.)
