‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ helps you ‘waste your leap second’

Last Week Tonight -

It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve had a new episode of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” and it feels like the current climate of the country may be aiding in that. In the midst of all of the craziness going on in the world, Oliver is our form of therapy; unfortunately, he hasn’t been there, so we’ve since had to figure out other ways to channel our time. (We’re not sure any of them have been as effective.

Luckily, Oliver’s series is now back (sort of) to take on a very important task for you this year: Helping you spend your “leap second” that you are getting this year. Therefore, if you visit their brand-new website, there’s a handy way for you to press a big red button, and get one of the most worthwhile seconds of your entire year. Given the way 2016’s gone so far, this may be the second you need to spend to get 2017 off to a much better note. (Of course, if there was ever a year that would have an extra second, of course it’s going to be 2016.)

Is there some irony here? Sure, given that the time it takes to visit the website, click the button, and get through the introduction is far more than a second. It’s actually more like ten or so if you count all of it up obsessively like we just did.

Still, we feel like this is probably worth it, given that there are so many little micro-videos in here that we consider to be uproariously funny. Some are just downright bizarre, but others should put an enormous smile on your face. We just don’t want to spoil what any of them are, since given that they are all just one second long, they’re all payoff and not much else!
