‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7, episode 12 preview: The quest to save Chin
When “Hawaii Five-0” aired it’s last episode before it’s hiatus in December, we saw Chin make an enormous sacrifice in order to try and save Sara; however, in the process he ended up putting his own life on the line. In exchange for Sara’s safety he handed him self over to the cartel to die. Why does the cartel want him dead? The Five-0 killed the son of the head of the cartel and he wants vengeance on the Five-0, but for now, they will take Chin.
So when the show does come back next week, we’re going to have a chance to see whether or not he can escape the cartel (if he even wants to since he’s consumed with guilt over Sara’s kidnapping), or if the Five-0 team is going to lose Chin for good. We’re going to be hoping that he makes it through and we haven’t heard anything about Daniel Dae Kim leaving the show, but we have to admit that we are really excited about this juicy story line for Chin.
In the promo below, you get a good sense of what Chin is going through by the hands of the cartel, and it’s not pretty as he is beaten up, thrown around, and could be killed at almost any given moment. (The photo above is just one presentation of that.) The good news is that he’s alive, and if there was ever a group of people capable of saving him, it’s the “Hawaii Five-0” team.
The exciting thing about the episode is that it should be another excellent showcase for Daniel as an actor, and this is something that “Five-0” has excelled at over the course of the past several months: Creating strong character plotlines to anchor the surrounding stories. One way or another, whatever happens to Chin here will more than likely reverberate through the remainder of the season, especially when it comes to what happens with Sara. This could in turn further along the idea of his legacy, which is a significant theme for season 7 as a whole.
