‘Outlander’ season 3 spoilers: First look at Caitriona Balfe’s Claire, Frank, and Brianna

Outlander -We’ve been hoping that Starz would at least offer up something when it comes to “Outlander” news at some point over the holiday season, so with that, consider us rather grateful to have something to discuss today when it comes to Claire!

If you look below, you can see courtesy of Entertainment Weekly a first look at Claire (Caitriona Balfe) alongside Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies), where you can see her holding none other than her baby Brianna. Frank is going to help raise the child, and Claire is in Boston during the 20th century after Jamie (Sam Heughan) forced her to go back through the stones, guaranteeing that she would have some sort of future and would not suffer under the bloodshed of Culloden. This event occurs of course earlier in the timeline than the season 2 finale, which is when Claire learns that Jamie is still alive and travels back in order to find him.

In a statement discussing the photo, here is what Balfe had to say:

“This is right after Claire gives birth to Brianna … Those scenes are wonderful because it’s a new beginning, but it’s so fraught with so many other things. Obviously, this is Jamie’s child, but Claire’s in a new time and believes that Jamie is dead. So she’s really trying to look forward and give her daughter a new life, a stable family. I think it’s difficult for both of them. Frank is coming to terms with his wife. He didn’t quite know what had happened. She disappeared and she’s back. They’re tentatively trying to see if they can patch things up and allow themselves to embrace a future together. They really do try, but it’s not quite that easy.”

Given what we’ve seen in the past, odds are that both she and Menzies will deliver and then some over the course of these scenes, and during the upcoming season we also expect to see more of the adult Brianna (Sophie Skelton), who first made her debut during the finale.

There’s a lot to look forward to in season 3, whether it be journeys to new destinations or of course a famous print-shop scene that everyone is already anticipating. Unfortunately, the wait is likely going to persist still until spring. If Starz continues to hand out a few little teases here and there, we presume that this will make it easier.
