‘Madam Secretary’ season 3, episode 10 preview: A heart attack and ‘The Race’
Next week’s “Madam Secretary” entitled “The Race” is the last installment of the year for the show, and we absolutely wish that we could say that we imagine it being a happy hour of television. Unfortunately, it’s hard to really see that when a heart attack is going to be at the center of the story. We could lose a major character right at the time when we’re getting close to learning the results of the Presidential vote, which really would make this one of the most stressful, depressing hours of television that we’ve seen in quite some time.
We may have some further details to share later if a promo is released, but for the time being, let’s start things off with the following:
Synopsis – “When a possible Israel-Iran war threatens the House’s imminent vote on the U.S. presidential election, Elizabeth attempts to bring the two reluctant countries to the negotiation table in an effort to broker a peace between them. Also, Russell’s life hangs in the balance after a heart attack, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Dec. 18 (9:30-10:30 PM, ET/ 9:00-10:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network. Emelyn Daly returns to guest star as Henry’s niece, Sarah.”
We know that for us, we wouldn’t be more thrilled to see us start to move a little bit further past the story of the Presidential Election. It’s no offense to anything that the show is doing, but after so many real-life headlines that are stranger than fiction, it’s almost hard for any show to live up for that. It’s almost odd to say, but watching fake international incidents is almost a better form of TV escapism than anything else that you’re going to encounter when it comes to stories about government stateside.
As for Russell, all we can say is that we hope that he pulls through, just like when Russell did back when his own life was on the line and we were significantly worried about him.
