‘Gotham’ season 3 stars Ben McKenzie, Morena Baccarin engaged

Mrs. Carter: Some great news is shaping up within the “Gotham” family!

According to a new report from People Magazine, Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie, who have worked together on the Fox series since its very first season, are now officially engaged to be married and are already making wedding plans!

The happy couple is making this move in their personal life after previously welcoming their baby, Frances Laiz, in March of this year. They had much of the filming hiatus to grow as a couple and as parents, and are now ready to take another step in their commitment to each other. Congratulations are in order for the two of them!

This news, ironically enough, comes at a time when the characters that the actors play in Lee Thompkins and Jim Gordon are at a very perilous crossroads in terms of their relationship. On the winter finale, Jim had to pay witness to Lee getting married to another man in Carmine Falcone’s son Mario, who just so happened to be also infected by Alice Tetch’s blood virus. This caused him to become increasingly insane, and by the time he and Lee got away from the venue, his disease and intense jealousy for Jim progressed to the point that he was starting to become obsessed with killing her so no one else could have her at all. Jim coming in at the last second and killing him was a gory display, and the hope has to be for Jim / Lee ‘shippers that over time, she comes to understand more of what he did and why he did it so that it paves the way for another romance. If nothing else, he can point to the knife at the rocks as evidence that he effectively saved Lee’s life, even if it required taking the life of someone he held dear.
