‘Chicago Fire’ season 5, episode 6 preview: Dawson’s crisis in ‘That Day’
Throughout “Chicago Fire” as a series, we have episodes that tend to put an individual character in the spotlight as they try and take on some of the most challenging circumstances in their lives and in their career. Earlier this season, we had that with Casey when he had to go into rescue mode while fulfilling his duties as an alderman. Moving into next week’s episode entitled “That Day,” we’re going to have that for the character of Gabby Dawson.
You would think Dawson would be going through enough, in between shoring up her relationship with Casey and the fight she’s went through in the hopes of securing a stable home for Louie; unfortunately, this episode proves that her work — and in many ways, her stress — is never really done.
Synopsis – “While responding to a call in the field, Dawson (Monica Raymund) accidentally hits a pedestrian who stepped in front of the ambulance, and is left to deal with the repercussions. Lt. Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) disagree and continue to investigate an arson case while Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) is left to decide whether to attend an important function in New York. Elsewhere, in hopes of preparing him for a possible promotion, Lt. Casey (Jesse Spencer) puts Herrmann (David Eigenberg) at the helm for a shift so he can discover firsthand what his superiors deal with.”
For those wondering, Boden’s potential New York event could have to deal with September 11, as the character helped following the attacks. The only other tease we can offer before seeing the promo is that there is reason to be concerned that Severide and Casey’s conflicts over the arson case could bubble over, and in turn impact their friendship.
