‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’: Winners and losers from episode 8
This past episode of “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” proved to be especially entertaining, largely because there were so many different players in the mix and so many different strategies and motives that needed to be juggled around. However, at the same exact time we are starting to feel like merging at 13 may be too big of a merge for its own good. Both this season and in “Survivor: Cambodia,” we had a situation where the majority of the players meshed around a common opponent to take out, and it seemed as though it was easy to do that just because you’re looking for any reason to ensure you’re not the person to go home in that spot.
So who won out from this situation, and who’s fallen behind ever so slightly? In this particular edition of our winners and losers article series, we want to do our part to figure that out.
Winner – Zeke. At the moment, he seems to be in the real position of power-broker in the game. He’s got two Millennial allies in Hannah and Adam, even if the latter is a little bit antsy from time to time. He’s also in good with Chris and David from the Gen X tribe, which may give him inroads to almost every other person on there. He’s not an obvious threat. As of right now, he can almost control the game without anyone knowing.
Loser – Jay. Out of the three dudes (Jay, Taylor, and Will) that are a part of this Millennial group, he’s the one that has been presented as the most strategically sound. Yet, he severely miscalculated seemingly how many people were on his side, and we’re not sure why that is. We blame him for several different things right now, from the Michaela move to telling Michelle not to overly strategize (which she talked about in our exit interview) to seemingly thinking that he had the numbers to take Adam out. We don’t blame Taylor as much just because there’s zero chance Taylor’s winning this game and is merely along for the ride.
Winner – Hannah. For the first time this season, we see her as a player with some momentum on her side. If she, Adam, and Zeke can get someone like David, who has a willingness to make moves, to flip at some point down the road, that could happen. Hannah’s role in this group is important in that she seems to have a very strong social game, and while looking very panicky before the merge, there was a calmness about her in this past episode that could serve the group well down the line.
Losers – The remaining women in the game. It’s shocking that we’re only down to just three female players at this point in Jessica, Sunday, and Hannah. How in the world did this happen? For the sake of balance in this game, having just three women left is a major disappointment. However, we do see all of them lasting for a little while given that none present an overt threat. However, done of them is doing enough right now to win. We did just praise Hannah for her upside in the game, but she still has more work to do to make it tothe summit. Meanwhile, Jessica has come across as very paranoid, and Sunday is almost invisible on the season.
