‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13 spoilers: Meredith, Owen, and others take a look back

Grey's AnatomyGiven everything that is happening in the lives of the main characters of “Grey’s Anatomy” almost constantly, we don’t think that many of them have too many opportunities to actually look back at what has happened to them over the years. There’s something that can be good about reflection, but at the same time, you don’t want to get so caught-up in the past that you ultimately become obsessed. It’s a delicate trade-off, and one that we find is not a particularly easy one to manage.

Yet, we do know that we’re going to see a little more reflection from some of these characters during “The Room Where It Happens,” which is the upcoming episode of the ABC show airing on Thursday, November 10. Based on the synopsis below, we feel like this one may be especially emotional:

“A difficult surgery brings back pivotal memories for Meredith, Richard, Owen and Stephanie, as they work together to save a life.”

It’s odd, but in many ways the episodes with the shorter synopses tend to be the ones that are the most interesting and memorable down the line. We feel like much of that is due simply to the fact that producers don’t want to give away an extraordinary amount of content in advance if they are trying something a little bit different.

One other bit of evidence that this could be a big episode is that it is being directed by executive producer Debbie Allen, a woman who has helmed a wide array of some of the series’ best. We’ll have some other stories and buildup of course before we get to this episode airing, so maybe there will be some further context as to this particular surgery and the memories that it provides.
