‘The X Factor’ UK: Four of Diamonds returns following Brooks Way departure
Great news for all fans of Four of Diamonds: Louis Walsh saw the light, and decided to give the girl group a second chance on “The X Factor” this season.
Following the stunning exit of Brooks Way after some investigating into one of the singers’ past, Louis and the show confirmed Tuesday that the ladies would be returning. Four of Diamonds had an excellent run in the competition, and we thought personally they were among the best performers at Judges’ Houses. In our mind, the top three were them, 5 After Midnight, and Tom and Laura — we’re now thrilled to see two out of those three in the contest. (Bratavio was the other group, and they were eliminated on this past weekend’s episode.)
Here is what Walsh said in a statement:
“I was really impressed with the girls at Judges’ Houses but only had three spots to fill for the Live Shows. At the time a lot of viewers were disappointed that I didn’t put the girls through, now that a place has opened up in my category, I’ve listened to the fans and am delighted to be bringing the girls back … They’re a great girl group and I’m hoping will take me all the way to the final.”
We’re always cagey on saying that any group has a good chance of winning this competition, given that the editing and the limited screen time tends to favor solo acts. At the same time, Four of Diamonds has a reasonable shot at going far. Little Mix proved that there is a path for girl groups to win, and they have the right demeanor and performance style to resonate with fans. You want to be talented and confident, but at the same time also relatable and fun. They have the components.
