‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 4 preview: Could the Penguin really be Mayor?
We don’t want to be the sort of person to often ring the conspiracy alarms, but it’s certainly interesting that “Gotham” is choosing to do a storyline right now about the character of Oswald Cobblepot opting to run for Mayor. He’s a controversial figure seeking public office by unifying a number of disgruntled people around him. We’re not trying to get political here, but we do think that some of the parallels surrounding this have to be to a certain degree intentional.
So where are we going to see this character going moving forward in regards to the election? You could learn more of that on the next new episode entitled “Mad City: New Day Rising.” The synopsis below offers up a few more interesting insights into what you can expect to see:
“Penguin gains power as he narrows in on the nomination for Mayor of Gotham. Meanwhile, Gordon turns Alice (guest star Naian Gonzalez Norvind) into the GCPD for the bounty. Also, Bruce and Alfred race to find Bruce’s doppleganger after learning he’s assumed Bruce’s identity.”
There are a few different aspects to this episode that we find interesting, but one of the most notable ones is this: What are we going to see with Gordon and Alice? We have a hard time believing that Jim is going to be the sort of guy who simply plays for bounties the remaining of his life. He’s got too much of a code of honor that he chooses to live by, so it’s hard to see him remaining in this state permanently. Ultimately, we suppose that we’ll figure this out further as time goes on in terms of how he will use this part of his life to figure out his future.
