‘The X Factor’ UK review: Did 5 AM, Tom and Laura, 4 of Diamonds make live shows with Louis Walsh?

Louis -Tonight, the Judges Houses begin on “The X Factor” UK! We’ve narrowed down the field now to 28 contenders, and by the end of this weekend, we’re going to know the twelve who are going to the live shows. This should be fun; even if you don’t get a lot of wonderful performances (hopefully we will), there will at least be some really pretty houses to look at!

We’re going to be updating this article live as the show goes on, so be sure to refresh for some other updates.

5 AM – We agree with the guys that their vocals were a little off, but their dance moves were entirely on-point, the rapping was incredible, and we just like their overall swag. To us, they’re a lock to move onward.

Tom and Laura – They’re the best singers in this group BY FAR, but they really went in a hokey direction with the song choice. We hope they make it through, but after this performance we’d consider them a little bit more of a toss-up than we did previously.

Yes Lad – Kudos to the boys for thinking outside of the box with “Can’t Stop Til You Get Enough.” The vocals were okay, but our biggest problem with them is that we don’t really get any new vibe from them than we did with any other group out there.

Ottavio and Bradley – We understand that they are camp, and camp can be entertaining. The problem that we’ve got with them going through is that the odds of them making longer than a week or two in the live shows are low. We’d rather have acts with potential.

Skarl3t – Why slow down “Hey Ya”? This song is fun when it’s fast, and it makes almost no sense when it’s slowed down and drippy. They’re super-talented, but after their edit at bootcamp we wonder if they’d get any votes.

The Brooks – We appreciate the guys trying to bring it here, but it all just felt a little bit overwrought for them. Once again, here’s a group that should have been trying to have a little more fun.

4 of Diamonds – Really great. Like 5 AM, what they have going for them is that they’re fun and relatable and could develop a following. We think that they’re not the best singers in this category, but they just have a vibe and a style that you really want to root for.

Results – Louis moved forward with 5 AM, which was the big no-brainer. Then, he went completely out of his mind in choosing The Brooks and Ottavio and Bradley over 4 of Diamonds and Tom and Laura. Tom and Laura easily could have made it to top eight or top seven this season! We know that this is a decision made with entertainment in mind, but we just don’t see Ottavio and Bradley lasting very long.
