‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6, episode 2 preview: ‘A Bitter Draught,’ Aladdin, Jasmine, and more

Tonight, the premiere of “Once Upon a Time” aired on ABC, and through it we had some sad reminders about the state of things at present, but there were also reasons to dread the future. How else are you supposed to look at things for the likes of Emma and Rumpelstiltskin, who could be facing death or another separation from a child?

In the midst of all of that darkness (and not to mention the existence of the Evil Queen out there), let’s go ahead and also talk about some reasons to be happy: Aladdin’s coming! He was in the introduction to tonight’s premiere, and you’ll see a lot more of him in the episodes to come.

One thing we definitely get the sense of here is that after shying away somewhat from mimicking Disney stories or costumes in the early going this season, we’re definitely in the direction of Full Disney now. After all, consider the fact that Aladdin and Jasmine are dressed in their ever-familiar costumes, and we’re going to see the same thing courtesy of the show’s Cinderella in her upcoming appearance. It’s not so much that we mind that, mostly because of the fact that this is a show that goes hand in hand with Disney, and these are characters who we do love. Plus, with Kingdom Hearts being the only other entertainment product out there even remotely like this, we’re glad to have at least something to fill that void until the next game is released.
