‘Gotham’ season 3 spoilers: Will the beginnings of a Harley Quinn story form?

Gotham -Obviously, we’re in an era where the Harley Quinn character is more popular than ever. There was a time when following her was a little more emblematic to being a child of the nineties and a fan of “Batman: The Animated Series,” but now she’s everywhere. A fun game we played at San Diego Comic-Con was counting just how many people we saw dressed as her on the convention floor. Over the course of the three hours we were on the floor, we saw over thirty of them!

What we’re trying to get at here is that despite the creative failures (at least per critics) of the recent “Suicide Squad” movie, the character is still going to be in demand. We’d beg someone to get her back on “Arrow” after a brief cameo, and while at TCA this week promoting the third season of “Gotham,” executive producer John Stephens made it clear that we could end up seeing the foundation of the Harley Quinn story at some point, similar to what the show did with the Joker and Jerome. There’s no guarantee that it will be this season, but clearly the show is not looking to necessarily abandon this story forever. They may not be in too much of a hurry to have Harley turn up here, given that she is perceived to be younger than Batman and the Joker in the comics.

Meanwhile, fellow EP Ken Woodruff suggested that we could also see the beginnings of Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy on the show soon. We were never a huge Grundy fan, but Killer Croc is a really cool character that deserves a lot more love than he’s been given in pop culture away from the comics.
