‘MasterChef’ season 7, episode 8 exclusive preview: Will D’Andre’s past help him in latest challenge?

There are few advantages in the world quite like experience, especially when you are on a show like “MasterChef” that routinely puts you through the paces and tries to keep you unsure about what you are going to be doing at every turn.

For the first challenge, experience could be a factor more than in any other since the remaining cooks are going to be faced with the challenge of cooking on a budget. They have limited ingredients, and they have to find a way to make them work and make them delicious. It’s possible that a few of the cooks this season have never been in that particular position, and while that may be great in that they’ve never experienced struggle, it is a massive disadvantage here.

As the exclusive sneak peek below points out, D’Andre may be uniquely suited for this particular challenge because of his past. He explains to Gordon Ramsay that he was without a home for a while after coming out to his parents, and through that experience he learned how to make a lot out of a little. It’s an inspiring story for sure, and it’s nice to hear him speak of this experience as a hurdle rather than something that defines his life. He credits his partner for helping to push him to get back in the kitchen and take the next step.

Will D’Andre’s food put him near the top of the pack in this challenge? We’ll find out on Wednesday night, but for the time being we’re feeling optimistic.
