Derek Hough still planning to have ‘Dancing with the Stars’ future

DWTS -

While you may not have seen much of Derek Hough on this past season of “Dancing with the Stars,” rest assured that his time with the show is not over. While we cannot confirm that he will be coming back as a pro, the evidence is definitely there that he is planning on doing something more with the ABC ballroom competition in due time.

In speaking further about some of his specific plans to “Access Hollywood,” Derek (who is also preparing for “Hairspray Live!” over on NBC) made it clear that there are many reasons why he would love to go back to the ballroom and do more with the show:

“Yeah, absolutely, man. I mean, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is my family. I’ve been a part of that show for so long and I can’t imagine not being a part of that show somehow … One thing I love about that show, what I love about being a part of that show, is the coaching and the teaching and the creating and I think that’s what’s so special about it is it’s not just a reality competition show. You’re really learning a skill on there. You’re really developing something before your eyes and it’s amazing. There’s nothing like it. That’s why it’s going strong in 20-plus seasons. You can’t compare it to anything else on television.”

Ultimately, we figure that Derek will be back as a pro soon if he has the time, and if not, he’d make a great guest judge. If Maksim Chmerkovskiy does it, and if Julianne Hough has in the past, why can’t he give the role a try, as well?
