‘The Amazing Race 29’: Filming officially begins!

Amazing Race -

For all fans of “The Amazing Race,” we come bearing great news: The race is on yet again!

On June 10, filming officially began for the epic 29th season of the show, per a post that was retweeted by host Phil Keoghan (see below). The new season began in downtown Los Angeles, which really shouldn’t be too big of a shock given that many seasons of the show have begun in the city of angels. This does confirm that we’re moving away slightly from the format of last season, which featured teams traveling elsewhere with separate intro packages. We feel like that was something specifically done in order to satisfy the web-star premise of the season.

As for the cast and a potential theme for the new season, we’re going to hold off since 1) filming is still going on (obviously) and 2) the network hasn’t officially announced it. We don’t really like to get into actual spoilers here.

The biggest bummer about the start of the season filming is that it is more or less a reminder that you’re going to be waiting for a long time to see it premiere. It was not on the CBS fall schedule, and with that, there’s no precise spot for it. Our guess is that it will premiere at some point in midseason, which is probably going to be around January or February. Once we have further news on that, we will let you know. Typically, the pattern for CBS is that they announce the full cast lists a few weeks before we get around to the premiere date.
