Teen Choice Awards 2016: Dylan O’Brien, Peyton Meyer, Tyler Posey compete for Summer TV Actor

It’s interesting that the Teen Choice Awards waited until the second wave of nominations to give you what may end up being their strongest category of the entire show in terms of contenders in Choice Summer TV Actor. Even though not all of these actors are technically on summer TV (“Faking It,” for example, was more of a spring show), let’s just roll with the punches here since we’ve got an interesting group of guys to discuss. Yet, at the same time, we feel like there is a very clear favorite to win.

The nominees

Jean-Luc Bilodeau, “Baby Daddy”

David Lambert, “The Fosters”

Peyton Meyer, “Girl Meets World”

Dylan O’Brien, “Teen Wolf”

Tyler Posey, “Teen Wolf”

Gregg Sulkin, “Faking It”

Who will win – Dylan O’Brien. We’re not even sure how much time we really have to spend talking about this. Not only does he do a great job as Stiles, but following his injury filming the latest “Maze Runner” movie, we know that there will be so much public support behind him that he will get an additional surge of votes. Even without that, we think he’d probably still have a really good shot at this.

Who should win – For many of the reasons that we’ve said, probably O’Brien since these awards are meant mostly to be fun and celebratory. It’d certainly lift his spirits. Our second choice would probably be Lambert, who has done some really great work on “The Fosters” over time, with Sulkin in third place as a nice parting gift to “Faking It,” a show that never got to conclude its story.
