‘The Bachelor’ alum Ben Higgins reportedly considering political career

Given that we have someone effectively famous for reality TV at present one of the top contenders to be elected President, who is to say that a former star of “The Bachelor” can’t enter the political realm in their own right?

In what has to be one of the more shocking stories we’ve heard in some time (seriously, this one came out of nowhere), Ben Higgins is considering a run for the Colorado House of Representatives, a way for him to get more involved. Willie Pinkston at the moment has already positioned himself to run against Dan Pabon, but the former has reportedly told the Colorado Independent that he will step down if it means that Ben, someone with notoriety already, takes his place.

In a statement to the publication, Higgins himself notes that he is still talking over the possibly campaign with his fiancee Lauren Bushnell (who he met on the show), and no firm decision has been decided just yet:

“Whatever lies ahead, love, grace, and hope are ideals that guide my life. I will take them with me into my next adventure … Lauren and I aren’t sure yet what that will be, but in terms of representing House District 4, Willie Pinkston is an amazing person and any decision I make regarding entering the race will be based on what is best for Willie, his family and for Lauren and me.”

This move would further differentiate Ben from many other recent Bachelors, who have really just used this show as a platform to do other media things. Given that the Colorado House of Representatives is fairly low-key insofar as politics goes, it feels fairly clear to us that he is doing this mostly with a desire for community involvement in mind more so than fame.
