‘Poldark’ star Aidan Turner has his pick for eventual ‘Doctor Who’ replacement

PoldarkWhile there has been no word as of yet regarding whether or not season 10 of “Doctor Who” will be the last for Peter Capaldi as the star, the reality here remains that at some point, he will end up saying farewell to the role. Therefore, is it ever too early to start looking at who could be an eventual replacement? The fact of the matter is that the BBC and the producers of the show probably are already pondering over some ideas anyway, so this is not really any different.

One name that could be could be apparently thrown out there is former “Being Human” star Russell Tovey, given the fact that he has been rumored before; it’s far from guaranteed that it will happen, but based on what his former co-star / current “Poldark” star Aidan Turner told the Radio Times, he’d certainly support an effort:

“He’d do a very good job, wouldn’t he? Yeah, I’d be all for that. I’d sign that petition. He’d smash it – he’d kill it!”

Apparently, there’s no campaign to get Turner aboard the Tardis, not that he has any real time in his schedule in the first place. Instead, most rumors surrounding the actor have to do with whether or not he could play James Bond, which we’ve always found interesting given that if he was to take that role, it’s hard to imagine he would have nearly as much time to play Ross Poldark and we weren’t sure fans would want him to choose.

The second season of “Poldark” will premiere later this year on BBC One; stay tuned for more news at this link over the coming weeks.
