‘The Amazing Race 29’: Premiere date questions for CBS reality show
The 28th season of “The Amazing Race” is coming to a close on CBS Friday night, but what about the 29th? We don’t think anyone can blame you for wondering already about it, given that this show remains to us a unicorn in terms of providing informative, fun, and competitive reality television.
Unfortunately, it’s also one that only airs two seasons a year with lengthy hiatuses in between, unless you are in Canada and lucky enough to be able to enjoy that excellent version of the show.
CBS has already given a greenlight for at least one more season of the show, but we presume it to be effectively two given that they often order a full year’s worth of shows at one time. (Also, in the event that the network ever were to decide that they were done with the franchise, 30 is a nice number to end on than 29.) There’ll more than likely be a fall season premiering in September once more, and then a winter one starting in February. Season 29 should film this summer, and while there has been no confirmation on a cast just yet, personally we’re hoping to see one constructed of nobodies from all walks of life. No NFL players, no internet stars, or no other gimmicks. Give us people who are more readily relatable to the average viewer on a personal or occupational level.
We imagine that later this year, we’ll have more insight on the cast; tomorrow, we will be composing a wishlist for some of the elements of the show we’d like to see tweaked in some manner before it returns.
