‘NCIS’ season 13: New video promotes Michael Weatherly’s exit, potential Ziva problem

Even though Cote de Pablo may not be returning to the “NCIS” season finale (per her own words), it does seem like the show is going to still try to make a little bit of a meal out of the Ziva David character in the final episodes of the season.

In the promo below, Ziva’s name is specifically mentioned as we start to hear whispers of a case regarding someone targeting former agents. Clearly, this was the way in which the character could have been brought back had circumstances worked out differently, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Regardless of if there is a physical Cote appearance or not, Ziva appears to be involved in some way in the decision for Michael Weatherly’s Tony DiNozzo to leave the team. This is happening over the final episodes, and hopefully in turn we will start to get a better understanding as to why. Weatherly’s screen time recently on the show has been a little down, but that is more due to him filming the pilot for “Bull” than any particular storytelling decision on CBS’ part.

In focusing on Tony, what we really hope from these final episodes is that he does get an opportunity to spend a little bit of time with Weatherly and many of the other longtime cast members as they all try to say their goodbyes. We know that there are a lot of things going on, but we feel like we’ve earned some of the smaller, quieter moments.
