Ratings: ‘Madam Secretary,’ ‘Elementary’ season 4 sink; ‘The Good Wife’ steady

Sunday night’s primetime lineup once again provided a prevailing sentiment. Unfortunately, that said sentiment was disappointment once you look at all of the numbers in a panoramic way.

The good news – Really, the only victory goes to one episode of “Crowded,” which rose to a 1.2 in the 18-49 demographic following an episode of “Little Bit Shots” — which, by the way, won the night with a 1.8. (No surprise there, given its performance for most of the season.

Just to make this section of the article look a little bit larger, we’ll go ahead and include in here some of the shows that at least were fairly steady in “Once Upon a Time” (1.1), “Quantico” (1.0), “The Family” (0.8), and “The Good Wife” (0.9).

The bad news – “Madam Secretary” was toppled all the way down to a 0.9. This is still within the range of where this show can land, so we we don’t exactly think this is a sound-the-alarm moment for it at the moment.

As for “Elementary,” the show hit another new low with a 0.7, which further makes it surprising that the show was renewed for a season 5. Then again, this is a show that CBS owns outright, and one that they can score some more money on during syndication. Maybe they think that after this season, that measure will help to boost ratings somewhat. It happened with “The Big Bang Theory,” but that is a very different show appealing to a different crowd. We’ll ultimately see what happens.
