‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Who is Rupture? Also, more Zoom trouble ahead

FlashWhen “The Flash” enters the month of May, you better be prepared for the showdown between our title hero and Zoom to intensify. Both have the motivation necessary to throw pretty much everything they have at each other, and while we don’t imagine that this will happen until we get around to the finale, there will probably be a nice, slow, natural build until then.

With that in mind, we turn to the synopsis for the May 3 installment entitled “Rupture,” which is going to bring another Earth-2 surprise into the mix. This time around, it is actually the villain Rupture, who (per the synopsis below) is going to look very familiar to one of our series regulars:

“Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) arrives back on Earth-1 intent on taking over Central City. Barry (Grant Gustin) and Wells (Tom Cavanagh) come up with a plan to stop Zoom once and for all but it’s extremely dangerous. Unsure if he should take the risk, Barry reaches out to both fathers for advice. Henry (guest star John Wesley Shipp) is adamantly opposed to Barry risking his life again but Joe (Jesse L. Martin) thinks he can handle it which puts the two men at odds with each other. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) is shocked when he vibes the Earth-2 villain Rupture, who happens to be his brother Dante’s (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez) doppelganger. Rupture came to this Earth seeking justice for Reverb’s death. Iris (Candice Patton) decides she’s finally ready to open up to Barry about her feelings for him.”

The return of Dante, even in his Earth-2 form, is welcome since this does give us an opportunity to have some more Cisco backstory, which is something that we do not often have. Meanwhile, we’re also happy to see that Henry is finally back. John Wesley Shipp has been greatly underutilized so far this season, and the show is still probably struggling with what to do with a pair of different Barry Allen father figures. Think of this as the creative ramification of Henry getting out of prison.
