‘Supernatural’ season 11, episode 15 preview: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and The Mix in ‘Beyond the Mat’

There is something about pro wrestling that feels incredibly nostalgic to many people out there. While not everyone is a lifelong fan of it, it’s something that many people out there have checked out at least at some point during their lives. It reminds you of a fun, goofy time when you loved to root for heroes, villains, and crazy costumes.

“Supernatural” is going to be coming back next week with another new installment entitled “Beyond the Mat,” and based on the synopsis below, wrestling is going to be the name of the game. Not only that, but a familiar face in the wrestling world will be making an appearance. As it turns out, Sam and Dean look at it with the same sort of nostalgia that we do:

“Dean (Jensen Ackles) sees an obituary notice for a wrestler he and Sam (Jared Padalecki) used to watch when they were kids. Deciding they need a break from tracking the Darkness, the brothers decide to attend the funeral to pay their respects. The funeral is full of wrestlers, including Shawn Harley (guest star Mike “The Miz” Mizanin), a hot shot new wrestler with a fiery temper who pushes everyone’s buttons, and veteran wrestler Gunner Lawless (guest star Aleks Paunovic). Sam and Dean attend the next match to re-live one of their fondest childhood memories but when another wrestler turns up dead, play time quickly turns to work.”

We do really like the episodes that take the Winchesters back to a simpler time, since it takes away some of the latest cynicism that comes with years of doing this crazy job. Also, this setting likely means that there will be some extremely funny moments coming up.
