‘Arrow’ season 4, episode 14 review: Felicity’s (potentially) big news; William’s clear and present danger

Arrow -You knew that the moment was coming on “Arrow” that would change things for Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, and now, it’s (almost here): Damien Darhk now has William. Felicity doesn’t know the truth about the kid yet, but she probably will soon.

Now, the question you have to wonder is this: Should Felicity be angry about this if and when she finds out? Our feeling is definitely, if for no other reason than that there was ultimately no reason for Oliver to keep it a secret from her. This has been a long sore subject for us, mostly because of the fact that he could’ve just went to Felicity, told her the truth, and then told her that it needed to remain a secret. Why not do that? Has she not earned his trust at this point? The same goes for Diggle and almost everyone else. Maybe you don’t tell Campaign Manager Alex (conspicuously absent) or Curtis Holt, but if you’ve been around from season 1 onward, you’ve earned that opportunity.

On a different note, Curtis gave Felicity a gift that could give her the ability to walk again. That’s her great news, along with the fact that Lance and Donna seem to be on great terms again after being put through the ringer by his attempt at protecting her / keeping a secret (a page out of the Oliver playbook).

For Oliver this week, he managed to seemingly win a debate with Damien’s wife Ruve, not that it matters too much since Darhk has figured out a new way to get to him. All of this was fairly exciting, and we do love a good ol’ fashioned fight scene. Still, we cannot help but think that there were some other ways to tell this story that could’ve produced a bigger cliffhanger, or helped Oliver to get ahead of what could end up ruining his engagement. Grade: B-.
