‘Shark Tank’ video: Is M Tailor the next great innovation in men’s clothing?

Shark Tank -After watching the preview video below for Friday night’s all-new episode of “Shark Tank,” we really cannot figure out whether or not we really love M Tailor, or whether or not we’re slightly annoyed at the way in which the company head chooses to go about his presentation.

First things first, let’s start with the positive: The idea is great. No guy wants to waste a ton of time measuring himself, and at the same time no guy wants to spend hours upon hours trying on different shirts in the store in order to find the right one. This is where this app comes in. It helps to measure you using your phone’s build-in camera, and you can also select the fabric, collar, and cuffs that you want on your shirt. The prices are good compared to other tailors, and it can all be done over the convenience of the phone.

Here’s something that is a little more grating: Hearing Daymond John’s Fubu brand almost be put down in the process. We never want to view things out-of-context since we’re talking about an editing TV show (and potentially an edited sneak peek), but if we were pitching to a Shark the last thing that we’d want to do is say that our product is vastly superior to something that one of the Sharks has created themselves. There’s a difference between joking around about Mr. Wonderful and then saying “I’m better than you.” Daymond may remain open-minded even after this slam-of-sorts, but we find it off-putting.

Would that stop us from a deal? Maybe not if there is a great record of sales present with M Tailor as a company at this point. The thing that concerns us is that he is already valuing the company at over $25 million; we know that it’s tech and you often pay for that, but it’s still a ton of money compared to the average show product.

What do you think: Do you think the idea is worth investment, or are you put off in some way by what is said about Daymond?
