‘Doctor Who’ season 10: Maisie Williams would love to see Idris Elba as Doctor

Doctor Who -Clearly, Idris Elba is the sort of guy people just want to see more of on TV and in film, and it doesn’t even matter what franchise you are talking about. The James Bond rumors have been out there for a long time, and now a recent “Doctor Who” guest star is quite keen about the idea of her joining this show.

Speaking per the Evening Standard in a recent interview, Maisie Williams said the following about hoping to see some more diversity in the casting for the character moving forward:

“I think a black Doctor would be incredible … I’m all for Idris Elba.”

She also said she’d be game to “take one for the team” and be the Doctor herself, but admitted she’s rather busy at the moment. With her schedule on “Game of Thrones,” there’s no way that she could do both shows.

We imagine that we’re going to see more rumors about future Doctors throughout the calendar year, mostly because the status for Peter Capaldi beyond the upcoming tenth season is unclear. Three years is a long time for any individual to take on this role, and it makes sense for a new Doctor to come in following the exit of Steven Moffat as showrunner.

As for who we want to see, our stance has always remained simple: Go for the person who you have the best vision for. If they are diverse, that’s wonderful; just pick the person who inspires you to create the best story and make “Doctor Who” the show it should be and then some.
