‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: How will Felicity continue to adapt?

Arrow -While we may have seen Felicity Smoak on “Arrow” season 4 make a great deal of progress when it comes to being in a wheelchair, don’t substitute said progress for a sign that she is suddenly accustomed to life in a wheelchair. What she has done so far is give us a few building blocks for what could be coming up for her in the future.

For more information on that, you just have to turn to executive producer Wendy Mericle and some of the comments that she made on the subject to TVLine:

“We will definitely feel the weight of it [her struggle]. There’s a big decision she and Oliver are going to make at the end of [Episode 413, airing Feb. 10], and it will inform a journey in 414 and 415 that she goes on with respect to how she’s going to handle being in a relationship, from the point of view of somebody who’s in a wheelchair. It’s a very small thing, but it is powerful and it is very emotional.”

We know that there are some people out there who are hoping that eventually Felicity will find a way to recover miraculously, but we are more than fine if her conditions stays this way. For one, the character can be even more of an underdog and inspiration, and she also helps to represent a very different demographic on TV. Think across the entire medium of just how many physically disabled characters there are. The answer is pretty stunning, especially when it comes to such heroic positions.
