‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ debate: Should Ben Higgins join cast after ‘The Bachelor’?

dwtsThere’s a little bit of a somewhat-recurring tradition at this point with “The Bachelor“: The odds are in your favor that when the season is over, you’re going to be asked to put on some ballroom shoes for “Dancing with the Stars.” It’s a chance to stay in the spotlight a little while longer, earn some cash, and also for the show to capitalize on some of that audience.

If you look over the past several years, two out of the past three leading men in Sean Lowe and Chris Soules have taken on the challenge of doing the show; another in Juan Pablo Galavis was at least discussed before it was determined that the majority of show viewers just didn’t care for him very much. Before that, Jake Pavelka also did the show, and Trista Sutter was a part of the very first season. The only “Bachelor” alum to ever win was Melissa Rycroft in “All-Stars,” and she also happens to be one of the few to make it on the show without ever being a lead. (To be fair, there were many special circumstances thanks to her being an injury replacement + a former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader. She already knew a thing or two about choreography at least!)

So should Ben Higgins follow in their footsteps? The big advantage for him doing it is simply that he would make a lot of cash, which would be a way to set himself and his potential fiancee (provided he proposed at the end of his “Bachelor” season) up with a great life moving into the future. Doing the show also comes with potential press and endorsement opportunities, and none of this can be ignored.

As for how well he would do, we haven’t gotten much evidence that the guy can dance. He’s also extremely tall, and while we’ve seen a few tall guys do well on the show, we’ve also seen a ton bomb out. He could go either way.
