‘Doctor Who’ season 10: New photo shows off Peter Capaldi’s sonic screwdriver!

Doctor Who -What would “Doctor Who” be without a sonic screwdriver? We got a taste of it last season, but the sunglasses (while cool in their own campy way) just couldn’t hold up a candle to the original.

Luckily, the season 9 finale “Hell Bent” introduced a new screwdriver into the Doctor’s life, and over the weekend the BBC released the most high-quality photo that we’ve had a chance to see of it yet. We really dig the design of it for one, like we also like the way in which Peter Capaldi holds it, almost as though a fireball is about to come flying out of it.

Hopefully, this image is one of many little things that the BBC is doing in order to satisfy all of us Whovians given that we’re looking at a rather-long wait at the moment. There is no new episode of the show airing until we get around to Christmas, with season 10 having been delayed until early 2017. This has been confirmed to be the last season for Steven Moffat as showrunner for the series, and it could also end up being the last for Capaldi as the signature star. We figure more information will come out about that in due time.

For now, we suppose that we should just celebrate the screwdriver, and then wait and see everything that comes up moving forward.  After all, there are many announcements that the show needs to make, with a replacement Companion topping the list following Jenna Coleman’s exit.
