‘American Idol 15’: Harry Connick Jr. can see series returning on another network

American Idol -Is there another life still in the tank for “American Idol“? It’s really easy to be skeptical of the notion first and foremost, given that the show has been relentlessly promoted as this being the last year for it. If the singing competition was able to return in one year’s time, it’d feel totally disingenuous, and we think that one of the only reasons some people out there are watching is because this is the farewell tour.

With that being said, show judge Harry Connick Jr. still firmly believes there is a chance that there could be at least some more “American Idol” in the future … albeit on another network. Here is what he had to say in a chat with Entertainment Weekly:

“It’s a great show, and it’s had some great years, but 15 years is a really long time for any show on television … For various reasons it ran its course at Fox. The good news is, it’s still such a beloved show and the format is so proven at finding superstars in the music world that I wouldn’t doubt it if it found a new life somewhere else at some point.”

Ultimately, we think the best hope the show has for coming back someday is that it takes a year or two off in order to re-center itself and see where the music industry evolves. Following that point, we certainly think that it is possible that the show could come back rejuvenated, and at a time when there are some people out there who actually miss it.
