‘Shark Tank’ preview: Shefit, 2400 Expert, IcyBreeze, CO.Alition, and Chapul Cricket Bars

Shark Tank -After a week off the air “Shark Tank” is going to return on Friday night with a new episode, and the four products featured have very little in common. One helps you prepare for your SATs, one is an update to a sports bra, one is a cooler with a twist, and finally, we have a backpack with some added smart technology.

As we often do with these articles, let’s start off with the synopsis and a reminder that the Sharks this time around are Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, Lori Greiner, and Kevin O’Leary.

“A college student from Las Vegas, NV who earned a perfect SAT score wants to expand his business to help others increase their test scores, but can he deliver a perfect pitch to the Sharks? Husband and wife exercise enthusiasts from Jenison, MI believe they have created the ideal sports bra that women have long been looking for; two millennials from Denver, CO want to sell the sharks on a high-tech backpack company but plan on keeping their lucrative other backpack company for themselves; and a serial entrepreneur and his two business partners from Bixby, OK have invested a staggering amount on a cooling appliance for outdoor use. Also, an update on Pat Crowley from Salt Lake City, UT and his energy bars fortified with protein from crickets, Chapul Cricket Bars, in which Mark Cuban invested in during Season 5.”

Shefit – We’re the last person to ask about a sports bra, so we’re not even going to try to say whether or not this works. What we’ll say is that if it is better than almost anything else out there on the market, the price at just under $60 is not so out-of-the-world that it would scare people away from buying it.

2400 Expert – Let’s be real: SAT scores are critical to your future as a young person. Maybe a little too critical, but that’s an entirely different story. The truth here is that getting a good score can make or break your future at a prestigious school. This system is designed to give you the highest score possible, and while it’s hard to gauge whether or not it works just based on some reviews online, it’s something that could easily merit an investment. The classes don’t run cheap (typically between $600 to $999 for a two-month course), but they are still cheaper than some other avenues and can be done online or in-person.

CO.ALITION – A backpack that can be integrated with many of your devices, or even provide a wireless hard drive to store files for when you need them. It’s a cool design, and everyone is looking for new things to charge things on the go. Personally we don’t think that it is a necessity to have given that we’re usually good with charging up our devices, but in this culture where everything is connected we could see there being a market for it.

IcyBreeze – It’s an innovation to a standard cooler that also includes a device that serves as a portable air conditioner. The product looks a little silly (we’d say the nozzle for the AC would look better in white), but if it works, maybe this would be a lifesaver for people who are outdoors and want to chill out a little. To us, we see it for now as a little too expensive ($249 for one without even factoring in a rechargeable battery) for the average person to pick up. You can get a normal cooler starting at around $20 on Amazon.
