‘Arrow’ season 4, ‘The Flash’ season 2 face huge hurdles for potential ‘Supergirl’ crossover

Arrow -It seems to be almost a recurring theme at this point anytime that producers for the “Arrow” / “Flash” universe are in front of reporters: Questions aplenty are asked about the notion of a spin-off featuring one of these shows and “Supergirl” on CBS. They all share executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, and while the latter airs on a different network, CBS does own a stake in The CW and there is at least some synergy there.

Are we any closer to a crossover episode than we were a few weeks ago? Not really. Speaking per TVLine at the TCA Winter Press Tour this weekend, EP Greg Berlanti said that it is possible that something could happen, but there isn’t anything concrete at the moment:

“I personally never rule anything out … I would be excited by it. But a lot of things would have to go right, people would have to say yes, for that to happen … [If we were to do it,] it would have to be figured out in the next month or so.”

Berlanti also commented on what is our biggest problem with such a crossover right now: It doesn’t make too much sense logically, given that nobody has mentioned Superman / Supergirl in either Star City or Central City. It feels like something people would probably be talking about in the event that they were flying around out there. We don’t know how to fix that issue, given that everyone in this universe seemed rather shocked by all of these superpowers, even though Superman had already been in Metropolis for years at this time. In addressing this, Berlanti said that the writers had “some thoughts” as to how to deal with it.

We’ll have more on this idea as we start to learn more, but for now, head over here to see some more news on another big episode of “Arrow”! Also, sign up over here to get some more TV scoop on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: The CW.)
